Rule #49

A good designer is thinking at least five steps ahead of the step he’s currently working.

If you don’t know where you’re going, it’s easy to lose sight of where you want to go. A lot of time is wasted when a designer doesn’t have a clear idea of the objective and goals. When working, it’s important to not only know how the current step feeds into the big picture, but you also need to factor in potential objections and make design decisions that withstand subjective scrutiny.
