Rule #39

You don’t have to have formal training in graphic design to be successful, but it sure does help.

This rule may sound like a bit of elitism in play, but it speaks two the adage that “everyone thinks they’re a graphic designer.” In most cases it’s easy to identify those who think they’re a designer by the quality of their work. In the same way that one might think they are a plumber right up until their kitchen is flooded with water, this meaning behind this rule says, “leave design to the professionals.” It’s usually cheaper for you overall and delivers better results.
