Rule #17

The best computer for the job is the one that works when you really need it.

It is a perception that everyone in the marketing and design fields works on Apple computers. There is, in fact, a big debate on which is better, Mac or PC?

In my experience, I have found Apple products horribly unreliable, and they break down frequently. When they do break down, the proprietary nature of its hardware requires that you take it to an Apple-certified shop for repair. You’re without a computer for several days, and that is simply unacceptable when on deadline.

I’ve always used Microsoft Windows PCs throughout my career and have found them to be exceptionally reliable—and even something does go wrong, the open nature of it hardware ecosystem means I can run down to the local Best Buy and buy a replacement, hard drive, video card, sound card, RAM, etc. and be back up and running in a matter of hours.
