Rule #42

Get the client to sign off on everything before doing any printing or production.

This just makes good sense from a CYA standpoint. You need something in writing that states, “I am the client and the file I am submitting for production is exactly what I intend.” A marketer isn’t responsible for errors once the content is trafficked. An approval in written form is all that’s required, even an email. Any errors beyond that point are their responsibility, including the full cost of reprinting, reauthoring, supplemental editing, etc.

As a marketer or designer, if you don’t get this approval in writing, DON’T SEND IT! You could be on the hook for full cost of reproduction.
