Rule #32

No matter how many hours you work, make sure you set aside enough time to let your creative mind and mental health recharge.

I learned this lesson the hard way—especially when it comes to mental health. I grew up believing that work always came first, no matter how many hours it took. Personal needs were secondary, and you never, ever pushed back against a boss or client.

I still catch myself playing what I call “hero ball” from time to time, but I’ve come to realize that it’s okay to put yourself first when you need to. Prioritizing your physical and emotional well-being isn’t slacking, and you can’t deliver great work if you’re running on empty.
