Rule #13

Images pulled off the Internet do not work in print.

To major reasons why you do not provide images downloaded from the Internet:

  1. Two different technologies at play. An image that looks full screen on a web page will print with quality at roughly 4 inches wide. That simply will not work for a full-page flyer, poster, or brochure. Locate the original photograph and send that to your designer.

  2. Images online are still subject to copyright rules. Just because you find that picture of Snoopy or Garfield cute, doesn’t mean you have the rights to use it. You could face a lawsuit from the content owners, so just don’t do it. Use your own images.
