Founded in 2013, Big Opposable Thumb provides the under-served small business market with agency-quality marketing strategies and design. Spanning the lower 48, Big Opposable caters to customers throughout the United States in a variety of industries ranging from retail and wholesale clothing and jewelry designers to fine art galleries to software development to agricultural equipment manufacturers to medical practices.

Chief Creative Monkey Matt Schroeder is a self-described “full-stack marketer, educator, brand builder, strategist, change agent, and teller of dad jokes.” With nearly 30 years of experience, Matt brings warm charm and personal touch to his marketing accounts. Beyond delivering sage marketing guidance and interesting visual graphics, it’s his goal to build genuine relationships with his customers and create an open, honest forum to exchange ideas, explore opportunities, and candidly evaluate the progress of marketing campaigns.

Matt boasts degrees in Graphic Design (A.A.S.), Web Development (B.S.), owns a Master’s degree Marketing & Public Relations from University of Denver, and a professional certificate in Digital Marketing from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University.

Multiple silver and gold ADDY awards in branding, direct mail, video, packaging, and signage have contributed to his well-known success in his field. He’s been honored multiple times by the Newspaper Association of America (NAA) and Colorado Press Association (CPA) for his work in print advertising, page layout, and marketing campaigns. Most recently, he took top honors in 2021 and 2022 for his work in the public transit sector as Grand Champion in the annual American Public Transit Association (APTA) AdWheels competition.

He lives with his wife and two children in the quiet town of Palmer Lake, Colorado. A renowned Trekkie and pop-culture aficionado, Matt is a quick-with obscure movie and television references, and a wicked sharp sense of humor. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, grilling, baking, and bingeing whatever is the latest “must watch” show or movie.

Matt is a very hard working, creative and detailed graphic designer. I really enjoy working with him because he always had a great attitude, is always able to solve issues and is very reliable. I would jump at the chance to work with Matt again!
